Erlend Neumann

Architect/Sculptor
Hudson, NY

Source: Erlend Neumann is best known for his architectural design work where he strives to bring the sculptural world into his buildings. Erlend’s goal as a designer is to harmoniously utilize the artistic expression of form, light, and sustainable natural materials, while seeking to create structures which honor the past while embracing the future. He has recently completed the recording studio for Aaron Dessner and The National and is currently working out of Hudson NY. This sculpture exemplifies Erlend’s sculptural approach of minimal yet complex forms which can have multiple arrangements which work with the physical and the negative space.

Sparreaux: Expanding on the work displayed in Neumann’s Source Installation, The design for the Sparreaux stage is a take-off from the classic tweeter design found in loudspeakers. The intention is to create a structure which is beautiful and can assist in the projection of sound naturally through its form.
